De-Bouganin is Viventia’s proprietary de-immunized cytotoxic payload. Bouganin is a plant toxin that when linked to a binding protein forms an immunotoxin that is highly potent and can rapidly and effectively kill cancer cells. As Bouganin is a protein foreign to the human body, Viventia has engineered a de-immunized form of the toxin, De-Bouganin, through the removal of immunogenic T-cell epitopes. De-Bouganin has proven preclinical efficacy when attached to a targeting antibody as well as an excellent safety profile in animal models. Importantly, De-Bouganin is unaffected by MDR mechanisms common to chemotherapeutics. Viventia holds world-wide rights to the development of De-Bouganin.
Viventia’s VB6-845 is an anti-EpCAM therapeutic that incorporates de-bouganin as a payload was evaluated in an exploratory phase I trial. Patient samples confirmed the successful de-immunization of De-Bouganin.
